What is a Fibroscan?

What is a FibroScan?

A FibroScan, is a non-invasive procedure used to assess the health of your liver. Unlike traditional methods that involve liver biopsies, FibroScans provide valuable insights into liver condition without the need for invasive measures.

During a FibroScan, you'll lie on your back as a technician places a small probe on your skin, usually at the level of the right rib cage. This probe emits a mild vibration, which generates sound waves and measures the speed at which they travel through your liver. The procedure is quick and painless, usually taking about 10 to 20 minutes to complete.

If your FibroScan results indicate a diagnosis of fatty liver disease, you may be eligible to participate in a research study aimed at advancing our understanding and treatment of this condition. By participating in this study, you have the opportunity to contribute to medical research while potentially gaining access to investigational treatments and therapies. Your involvement can make a significant impact on the lives of individuals affected by fatty liver disease, helping to pave the way for improved diagnostic methods and treatment options.
